Comparisons of image quality of conventional DWI and SMS-DWI with different acceleration factors. Images were obtained in a 47-year-old healthy female volunteer with b values of 50, 800 and 2000 s/mm2 using SMS-DWI with acceleration factors of 2 (SMS2-DWI) and 3 (SMS3-DWI), and the conventional DWI sequence was used as a reference. The image quality of SMS2-DWI was rated as high as that of conventional DWI. In SMS3-DWI, substantially reduced image quality was found with signal loss in the central image portions as well as pronounced artefacts (white arrow), especially in the higher b-value images
