Ultrasound examination of the left lower extremity revealed large poorly defined hypoechoic regions (arrow head) within the muscles of the medial compartment of the thigh (a) and gastrocnemius (b, c). The hypoechoic regions irregularly infiltrated normal muscle tissue, with texture resembling muscle fibers retaining continuity with the surrounding muscles (arrow).
