In this plot, the quantitative use of controls (M n )is shown to significantly increase the area under the ROC curve when compared to tissue analysis alone (M p ). The arrow denotes a point on the M a curve where the false positive rate is significantly reduced compared to the 2+ point on the Manual Scoring curve. The AUC's of computer-assisted methods M n and M p are statistically similar to that of manual grading; only M a is statistically different.
