Simulation of the measured T 1 relaxation times under arrhythmia. Three phantoms were simulated with T 1 = 300, 500 and 700 ms, respectively. The measured T 1 was plotted as a function of nominal heart rate (solid lines) where heart rate was randomly varied with ± 5% during acquisition. In practical clinical post-Gd cases (HR 60-70, T 1 = 300-500 ms) the potential error due to this arrhythmia, as displayed as the error bars, is 2-6%. Added were the estimated T 1 relaxation times when the acquisition and saturation effects are neglected (dashed lines).
